Monaco Grand Prix problems

As if the ash cloud problem affecting flights was not enough of a potential problem, casino croupiers are also planning to strike during the Principalities most profitable weekend.

Sebastian Vettel battled his way into first position, 0.113 of a second ahead of Alonso, in today’s practice session. It is shaping up to be a tight battle for this year’s title.

However, a couple of potential snags have arisen for what is normally a very profitable weekend for Monaco.

The first is the Icelandic volcano throwing up more ash and disrupting flights. Hundreds of flights have been canceled this week, but the problem appears to be subsiding and hopefully will not inconvenience too many. Mainly the smaller airports in northern England and Scotland have been affected.

Secondly the croupiers in the Monaco casinos have applied to go on strike during this weekend. If they do so, this will be even more damaging economically and affect the international image of Monaco more than the previous strike during the bank holiday weekend.
