OGC Nice escapes drop
The Nice football team, OGC, looked set to drop to the 2nd division. They scraped through and survived thanks to a 4-3 win over Lyon on the last day of the season.

The Nice football team were perched perilously at the bottom of the table, and with a number of teams close on points only a win could save them. Standing in their way were the redoubtable Lyon, sitting in 4th place. Nice had never beaten Lyon away from home since 1972.
The stakes were high. Not only for the pride of the city, but also the future of the new €245M football stadium being built which will have a capacity of 35,000 people and due to be completed next June. The stadium will also be a national show-piece, and be used for the Euro 2016 in France.
In a thriller of a game, the Nice heros were Fabian Monzon, Kafoumba Coulibaly, Hugo Lloris from Lyon with an own goal, and Esmael Gonçalvès. Lyon went 2-0 ahead in the first half, with Nice pulling the score-line back to 2-2 before half time. An own goal pushed Nice ahead 3-2 only for Lyon to equalise shortly afterward 3-3. Then in the 73rd minute Nice scored to make it 4-3, and they managed to hold on until the final whistle for a remarkable victory.
